Burma’s TPS Extended: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced that it will extend Burma’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for another 18 months, from May 26, 2024, to Nov. 25, 2025.
This extension means that people who currently have TPS for Burma can keep their status until Nov. 25, 2025, if they still meet the requirements. Those who want to keep their TPS status must re-register within a 60-day period.
People who have already applied for TPS but haven’t received a decision don’t need to apply again.
If their application is approved, they will get TPS until Nov. 25, 2025, along with a work permit valid until the same date.
Additionally, DHS is allowing more people from Burma to apply for TPS for the first time.
These individuals must have been living in the United States since March 21, 2024, to qualify.
DHS will provide information and answer questions about these changes through various outreach efforts.
