If you applied for the USCIS H-1B visa lottery to work in the United States in 2025, there’s some exciting news!

The selection notices are being sent to let you know if you won. But there’s a little twist you need to know about.

This year, a new online system for submitting H-1B Lottery applications exists. It’s supposed to make things easier but there are a few bugs.

Here’s the thing: some applications still show the status “Submitted” online, even though they were chosen as winners in the lottery!

Immigration attorney Emily Neumann found this glitch while helping people track their applications.

She discovered cases where applicants saw “Submitted” but were selected. To help everyone out, she suggested double-checking even those applications that haven’t changed status yet.

USCIS seems to know about the problem. They’ve been sending selection notices since March 28th, and some of these emails are catching the applications that were mistakenly marked “Submitted.” But we’re unsure if the online system has been completely fixed.

As of today, March 31st, no more hidden winners of H-1B Lottery have been found beyond the ones attorney Neumann identified.

This might mean the system is working properly now, but it’s always best to stay careful. Keep an eye out for more updates from USCIS.
